Talking Wine

Bubbles Bubbling Over and Marauding Caterpillars
If this report from Decanter is anything to go by, then if you are in the bubbles and rose' game in the UK over the next few years things are going to be quite 'rosy' for you. Research is talking up a 20% increase in sales across the white wine, rose' and sparkling categories, whilst talking down red wine sales.
At the same time, Decanter couldn't resist a good horror story , tapping into the creepy crawly tale of a caterpillar invasion in Margaret River.
Syria are dirty at the UN for sending them a gift of Israeli wine , whilst on another political front in the US winemakers are lining up to see if Barack Obama will have their wine in the White House, no doubt enthused by the free endorsement (rumoured to be worth up to $25 million) that the President elect gave to Blackberry over the past few months.
The San Fran Chronicle talks up another Riesling revival , something the noble grape must be getting tired of as it seems to go through a rebirth every couple of years.
Wine Spectator does its yearly rating of South African wines with some very nice results for a few notable players, including Ernie Els, and the Napa Valley register ponders the effects of climate change on the region.
That's just a quick run around of some of the news we thought worthy. Happy drinking (Dombeya, of course !)
