Wine Bloggers Conference
Who would have thought? The world of wine bloggers officially became respectable this week when the first Wine Bloggers Conference was held in California, attracting over a hundred of the worlds burgeoning population of vinous bloggers.
According to some sources, there are over 700 wine blogs on the internet now, and that may be quite a conservative estimate. Some are just amateur musings, and others are quite professional, attracting the sort of traffic that would make the circulation of many wine publications look a trifle bony.
A few of note are the Fermentations blog by industry player Tom Wark, Vinography by Alder Yarrow and Dr Vino. What is interesting too is how serious the wine industry is starting to take the blogging community- the
immediacy of this communication medium places it at a distinct advantage to print and the numbers of people who are listening to and reading the musings of the on-line blogging community seems to keep on growing.
There is a good analysis of the event below, and also a long, substantial analysis of the impact of the conference on Tom Wark's Fermentation website (link).
